Privacy policy
What we measure, what we store, and what we do not.

Draft This policy is a plain draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
What this site stores on your device
If you use the dark mode toggle, the site saves your choice (light or dark) in your browser's local storage so it can remember it. It is not sent anywhere.

What we measure
We measure how our ads perform so we can report honestly to advertisers. When an ad is shown, we count an ad view only when the ad is at least half visible for one second. When you select an ad, we count a click. Each count records the campaign, the ad size, where the ad sits (slot), and the type of page. It does not record who you are.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and ad events. It uses cookies or similar technology in your browser to tell visits apart. We configure it without advertising personalization and without Google signals.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not ask you to sign up to read. We do not collect your name, email address or location through this site today.

Ads and links
An ad links to the advertiser's own site, which has its own privacy practices. We add tracking parameters (UTM tags) to ad links so advertisers can see traffic from Capital Region Dispatch in their own analytics.
The newsletter and contact form
The Morning Dispatch signup and the newsroom contact form are not live yet. When they are, this page will explain what they collect.
