Capital Region Dispatch is a new local news publication for Harrisburg and the Susquehanna Valley. We cover the Capitol and state government, roads and transit, Cumberland and Dauphin counties, and the outdoors. Every story is reviewed by a named human editor, our sources are linked, and our use of AI is disclosed.

We're also brand new. Sponsors who join us now are joining a local publication at its very start. We don't quote audience numbers yet, and we won't until our analytics can stand behind them. What we can show you is the publication itself: clear labeling, a clean reading experience and coverage worth sitting beside.

What advertisers get

  • Placements that are always labeled and never disguised as news
  • A calm page: no pop-ups, no autoplay video, no ad walls
  • Placement beside the sections your customers actually read
  • A plain process from first inquiry to live placement

Sponsors have no influence over our coverage. Our newsroom and our advertising decisions stay separate, and that separation is one of the things we're building this publication on.

Placements

  • Leaderboard. A horizontal unit under the header on our home page and section pages.
  • In-article unit. One clearly labeled unit within each article.
  • Sidebar and mid-page units. Beside article content and section pages.
  • Newsletter sponsorship. A sponsor line in The Morning Dispatch, once the newsletter is live.

How it works

  1. Inquire. Tell us what you'd like to promote through our contact page.
  2. Review. We confirm your category fits our advertising policy and talk through placements.
  3. Creative. You provide the ad, or we share the exact specifications and you send files that match them.
  4. Reserve. Placements are reserved monthly. Your ad runs until an agreed number of impressions or clicks is delivered.
  5. Placement. We schedule the ad and it runs with clear labeling. An impression counts when your ad is at least half visible for one second.

What we don't accept

Draft This is a draft advertising policy, not yet final.

We don't accept political advertising, including candidate, ballot-measure and issue-advocacy ads. We also decline:

  • Gambling and sports betting
  • Cannabis products
  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Products or services that are unlawful, or lawful products marketed unlawfully
  • Deceptive, misleading or unsubstantiated claims, including miracle health cures and get-rich claims
  • Adult content and sexually oriented services
  • Tobacco and vaping products
  • Hate, harassment or content that targets a group or individual
  • Pyramid and multilevel marketing schemes
  • Payday and predatory lenders
  • Any creative that mimics news, alerts or editorial design

We approve all advertising, and we may decline or remove an ad at any time. We don't run ads inside breaking-news or sensitive stories. If you're not sure whether your ad fits, just ask.

Joining at the start

Our first sponsors get early access to placements and a real say in how they work. In exchange, we'll be straight with you: this publication is new, and we won't promise reach we haven't earned yet. As our audience grows, the placements you hold early grow with it.
