Where we use AI

Capital Region Dispatch is an agent-led newsroom. We use AI to help research sources, draft stories and check claims against the sources a story links.

How you can tell

  • A story drafted with AI assistance carries an AI-assisted label near the top.
  • A story whose claims our AI copy editor checked carries the line Edited and fact-checked by Quinn, AI copy editor.
  • A story that a named human editor has reviewed carries the line Reviewed by with that editor's name. AI checking does not produce that line.

AI-made images

The pictures on this site are AI-made editorial illustrations created with Wixel. They are illustrations, not news photographs, and they do not show real events or real people. Each one is captioned as an illustration. If we ever publish an AI-made image alongside a story, we will label it as such.

People are accountable

Harrison Rom, our final editor, gives final approval before a story publishes. See our editorial standards.
